Quickbooks online filing problem?

Quickbooks online filing problem?

Didn't find your answer?

We submitted the 2004/2005 PAYE return for various clients online using Quickbooks. Today one employee reported that he was being assessed for about £1000 tax unpaid for that year. On looking at the calculation, the pay and tax figures for his employment were miles out from the correct ones. Both were about 90% above the actual figures. I'm asking to see if this is a known issue before approaching HMR&C (the employee mentioned that the person at HMR&C said something about an enquiry but he wasn't sure!)

Check previous P45 Info
I've had this issue a number of times. It seems to occus when the employee was orignially set-up on QB prior to 04/05, with previous employment figures entered as normal.

Although the 04/05 P14/P60 etc do not show this, when filed online the previous earnings/tax are being picked up as 04/05 previous employment.

At first I hopes this was a one-off, but I'm now becoming concerned this is a much wider issue. QuickBooks have yet to respond to my query...

A major difficulty with spotting this is that all printed reports show the correct figures. Also, as this is an employee 'underpayment' the Revenue contact the employee directly - not the employer.
