Recommendations for Consolidation software

Recommendations for Consolidation software

Didn't find your answer?

I recently joined a large company and find myself preparing the annual report as well as monthly and quarterly summary statements.

Where accounts were prepared in the past, Excel was the tool of choice. This is obviously labour intensive and not ideal from a control point of view. Therefore I aim to improve the situation in the coming year.

I have a requirement for a software package which will allow some automation of the input and output processes and has a flexible report writing facility which will allow various reports to be printed and formatted to order.

The monthly, quarterly and annual reports inhabit separate, if parallel, worlds so any system should be able to handle this while allowing me to copy formats from one to the other. I also require some comparison facility (budgets, comparatives etc).

In a previous life I used a Viztopia package for accounts preparation and found it to be useful and reasonably straightforward.

Can you suggest a solution which might fit my requirements or direct me to a source for further research?

Try Intelligent Apps,

It acts like an Excel addin, is Multi dimentional and has the capability of bringing in Information from various sources

Reports can be written as required by anyone
it can be used for both adhoc and fixed reports.

The reports are dynamic which mean they will change as the source data changes and you have the full functionality of Excel so your current user base will not be alienated.

It is owned by Sage and is the source of Sage BI so you have the backing of an accounting software pedigree.

Hope this helps

former group consolidation consultant
Hi,
I used to install microsoft business solutions enterprise reporting so that is one package you could use. Hyperion would have been one of our competitors. I think thoough if you do a search on the any answers for group accounting solution accounting web have several discussions about different suppliers. The last time I remember a related discussion is sometime in either July 2002 or 2003. Hope this helps,

Iris Group
There is a very exciting solution to this issue depending on your exact requirements. When Iris acquired Exchequer last year one of the first developments which was produced was the full integration between Iris Accounts Production and Exchequer.

The bottom line is that you can utilise all of the functionality within the Exchequer Software and in addition have all of the statutory reporting and consolidation elements of the Iris AP software. You now have the ability to drill down from within the Iris AP Software into Exchequer.

If you have ay queries please visit www.iris.co.uk.

Pivot tables - consolidate multiple data ranges
Presumably (1)you are taking previous months' reports and combining them into quarterly and annual reports and (2)the original monthly reports take the form of Excel spreadsheets.

The obvious first move would be to consolidate the monthly spreadsheets in a pivot table. Use the Multiple Data Ranges option which is designed specifically for this.

We have a tutorial for this.
