I'm just filing an SA100 using HMRC's own software, and can't see anywhere on the return to reduce the second POA.
The first one can be reduced fine, but the second is chargeable.
Am I going mad? Would it be best to just submit it then complete an SA303 by hand? Or should I stop being a cheapskate and invest in some proper software like Taxsoft?!

Simon - many thanks, sorted. I had a case of tunnel vision and was looking at the options on the return only!
James - I spoke to another sole practitioner today, who has approx 300 personal tax clients, and he uses HMRC's own software for SA100s. Apparently, exlcuding the 4 day problem last year, it only clogs up 9-5 mon-fri, but is fine outside of these times? Would it really be worth switching? I can prepare an SA100 from scratch in about 15 mins on this.
look again
I've just logged on to HMRC and it clearly says:
"Reduce EACH payment on account"
One entry reduces both payments.
(PS. It's not on the RETURN , it's an option on the left side.)
Short Sight
I would agree with you ,Fellowcraft, that you are being shortsighted.
We use PTP and in the chaos of last January when the Revenue website was down we had no problems submitting returns.
Unfortunately not
You only get the option to reduce the first POA, not the second, and the second stays at the original 50%. I'm stumped
seeing double?
As both payments on account MUST be the same, you only need to reduce the first payment.
