Registering for online services with HMRC

Didn't find your answer?

I've finally got round to registering with HMRC as an agent for their online services as far as self assessment and corporation tax are concerned.

The process has asked me for my "Self Assessment Agent Reference Number" and my "Corporation Tax Agent Reference".

I haven't got a clue what these are and, having looked through one or two clients files, can find no reference to these. Could someone please point me in the right direction of where I can find these.

Got Them!
Phoned the local office, asked to speak to the "Agent Maintainer", who hasn't been there for 2 days, but asked the person on the phone who was able to give me the numbers.

Many thanks

Call HMRC
If you are a limited company, call your tax district. That's how I got our reference numbers.

I suppose if you are self-employed/ partnershp you call your tax office.

Ask HMRC
I don't remember how I registered. Anyway it may have changed now.
I'd recommend phoning HMRC and asking them.

agent ref
When HMRC send you your batch of client statements, you ref number should be on there somewhere for SA, format A1245B.
Equally the CT ref is similar.
Call you Agent Maintainer at your local office, or possibly just call HMRC and give your agent details and they should be able to tell you - that's how I got mine.
