CWF1

The partners each need to complete their own CWF1 forms and register as self employed and include the other partners details on their respective forms.

These then go off to Longbenton and with plenty of luck once these have been processed HMRC should issue an UTR for the partnership as well as the partners.

partners already have individual UTR

thankyou for comments.

As the individuals are already registered as self employed doing other work, the partnership is a seperate business.

Will the CWF1 form still need filling and sending just to get a partnership number?

Yes

I'm afraid so.  Complete the forms and a partnership UTR should then be provided.

write to the local HMRC office

I wrote to the local HMRC office, included the Names, addresses, NI numbers, UTRs of the partners.  Gave full details of the partnership eg address, nature of trade, date of commencement.  Eventually I received notification of the partnership UTR - it took its time though.  If you are planning on filing a paper partnership return you may not receive the UTR in time.  Suggest you call the relevant office and find out if you can submit a paper return without it.  Alternatively, file online with appropriate software and you should have the UTR by 31 Jan 2010 (maybe!).

Don't forget the late penalty of £100 per partner if SA800 if filed late.
