Relevant Dates - Co Formation

Relevant Dates - Co Formation

Didn't find your answer?

We are being asked, in a tender document, for the dates of company 'Formation', 'Incorporation', and 'Registration', all separately.  Would somebody please be kind enough to clarify these terms as we all thought the last two, at least, are one and the same?

Mmm ...

Formation might be the start of any predecessor unincorporated business.

Incorporation can only be the date on the Certificate of Incorporation of the company.

Registration might be the date the company started trading, i.e: - registration for CT and/or VAT.

I would say that the first two, not the last two, are the same for a limited company.  Registration has no meaning in the context of a company's constitution.

Thanks Euan

These ITT's are, it would appear, often compiled by people that don't know what they are talking about!  The trouble is if they ask the question they expect an answer.
