Renew Keytime Tax 2007?

Renew Keytime Tax 2007?

Didn't find your answer?

I have found many niggling problems using Tax 2006, such as bank interest in partnership returns/pages, data entry particularly on property/foreign property income, accounting period generation in self employment etc etc, that have wasted many hours of my time with contacting support, which often is unresponsive. I am now invited by Keytime to renew at 38% price increase over last year . Anyone else thinking PTP or is this going from the frying pan into the fire?
I am a small sole practitioner practice.

Support
I was going to give it 1 more year. I had presumed it was just me - or the HMRC, now I'm being to think perhaps it the program!

I used support a few times, and they did up to a point - sort my problems out eventually. It was my fault it took so long, but I don't spend my days sitting in my office - usually its evening only . But when you are working late a night - to run into a problem, is not helpful - and so much time is wasted...... Then if you aren't able to contact support during the day for what ever reason - it can be several days - before you are able to do any work again.

I got the software to save me time & work, and if I have to rearrange my schedule to contact support it is adding to to it.

grrr dont mention keytime.
I had numerous problems with Keytime with the 2004/5 version of their personal tax. It’s still a dirty word in my office nearly 2 years on. They wasted a huge amount of my time and capped it off by refusing to refund the licence fee when I got fed up and sent it back, despite admitting that some of the advertised functions didn’t actually work properly.

Wouldn’t touch if they paid me £50 a return.to do so. Am now using TaxCalc which is OK although still also seems littered with basic niggles but at least it does actually do what it says it will more or less and you can speak to them when you call up with the odd issue.

Keytime
I was a contented user of Objective Tax, and when Keytime took over halfway through 2004-05 we had the option of either converting to the new Keytime version or carrying on with Objective Tax for the remainder of 2004-05. I did try to use the new Keytime version but I I really couldn't get on with it, or even make it work properly, and so carried on with the old. For 2005-06 I switched to Fast tax on the grounds that (a) it was good value for money, and (b) that I thought it would work.

For some unknown reason I am currently using the Keytime corporation tax module which, again, I am finding decidedly head-banging and time-consuming. I would not even consider renewing it, especially if, when the time comes, there's a price rise of 38%.

I think I'll probably go over to Drummohr or Taxcalc for all tax returns next time round - or maybe PTP, but their recent takeover by Iris does make me a bit nervous about their future.
