Replace Auditman

Replace Auditman

Didn't find your answer?

I tried this question before but didn't get any really relevant answers. I need a Final Accounts program which:-

a Can produce accounts in up to date formats regulalry serviced by the producer.
b Is straightforward to use and I can "fiddle" with(formats), and
c doesn't cost an arm +/- a leg

Sage(final accounts) is not user friendly and I suspect is not regularly updated
Iris is a bit expensive

Over to you

Compac
Ken

Did you get anywhere with this?

We use Compac, which for us works very well, and is very cost effective.

If you wanted to see it in action, give me a call.

Sage are at long last getting it right.
Dear Ken

I also used CSM Auditman many years ago, and over the last few years have spent endless hours looking at new accounts production systems. I have used Sage Audit 2000, Sage FAP & Sage Accounts Production (Apex) all OK products which on the whole did the job. The fault and common denominator her was Sage (the company). Sage thought they could buy into the accounts production market which they did with many acquisitions, sell a product they new nothing about with a expensive support contract and let accountants get on with it. The products were never updated and the support was never up to the standard accountants expected. I have for the past 12 months or so been using SAGE Accounts Production Advanced. Again a product acquired from Hartley with the same intentions in the begining, but in the past six months SAGE has come to realise the requirments and expectations of accountants. We now get regular newsletters, program updates & fixes, new releases and the support is now excellent. The product is the best I have used or had sight of, it is easy to use and it produces quality reports. I'm not saying SAGE are at the top of the tree at the moment, but for sure they are heading in the right direction.
I would also say, if you looking for a cheaper option and more basic product, VT Accounts is worth a look.

Good luck.

Ever tried Viztopia
Viztopia - produced by Solution 6 www.solution6.co.uk - is a package I used for several years.

I have used auditman and Viztopia but prefer Viztopia. I found it to be quite user friendly but most importantly it was easy to adjust the formats and save new pages as your own. The program was updated every 6 months or so by the producer but unfortunately I don't know the cost of the product, I believe it wasn't too expensive but cannot be sure.

Hope this helps.

Kevin

PROcap accounts production - with on screen editing
We provide a flexible accounts production system called PROcap. It provides all the features that you specify with the addition of having the most user friendly accounts preview and editing available. You can drill down from the face of the accounts and edit the underlying data from which the accounts are drawn. This applies across the board; client database items, formats and even the chart of accounts.

Formatting is easy to understand and you do not loose your customisation when we issue updates.

If you would like further information, please send me you address and I will organise an information pack for you.

Replacement for CSM Auditman
I used CSM Auditman in its DOS version. I replaced that with Sage FAP because of FAP's ability to use with Sage (Line 50 type) codes. I also had Sage Taxsoft. When Taxsoft was discontinued the procedures that we had in place to work Sage FAP and Sage Taxsoft did not fit in any way to the replacement software. We were left in an extremely difficult situation, to say the least.

We switched to IRIS in June 2001 and have not regretted it.

Yes, maybe it could seem a little expensive but this year, even though we still have a small amount of setting up still to do, the speed of production is terrific. Accounts are linked to tax. P11d's are linked to tax. Letters are often automatic and are easy to produce, especially S198 claims. We are also successfully operating time and fees and practice management, both of which are saving a great deal of time. I could go on and on ...

I would suggest that you look at IRIS again, it works in a similar way to Auditman, although I have found it to be much simpler to use for limited company accounts.

Look at VT Accounts
I would recommend that you look at VT Accounts. It is a good, stand alone final accounts package and you can either input straight from a TB or use the linked book keeping/nominal facility to input from cheque stubs etc. or working papers. There are also links to export data to a number of tax packages.
I have used the package for the past 4 years and have found amending reports much easier than Auditman (the package is Excel based).
The whole package costs about £200 (single user) and annual upgrades + a few support calls cost £150 per annum thereafter.
Their web site is www.vtsoftware.co.uk.

Have you considered CaseWare ?
Dear Ken,

CaseWare would certainly fit the bill on the basis of regular & timely updates (we provide monthly web-based updates to all our clients, and you have plently of scope for editing and amending the financial statements.

It is also very simple to use and has a host of new ideas and features that we think set it apart from the competition.

If you would like to know more please contact me on 0870 848 2100, or via [email protected]

I will be happy to give you a price which hopefully won't result in loss of arm or leg.

Thanks for the question,
Simon

Easy accounts.
Take a look at www.moneysoft.co.uk, I use this software, (not final acc), I find it very easy to use, and extremely good value for money.
Note:- I am not an accountant, but a SME sole trader.
