Request change to compliance inspector

Didn't find your answer?

I am dealing with an enquiry concerning self employment, available cash and business records.

The inspector asked for the records to be posted in an "envelope" although as they filled a large box they were hand delivered. The inspector now states that the records are not robust enough!

All takings are banked and cash is drawn as and when required. There is quite often 10 to 14 days between cash withdrawals. The inspector is not happy with this and has stated "we all have to spend cash at various times throughout each day....". Clearly she does not understand that self employed people do not spend time shopping.

Is there a procedure for this enquiry to be reviewed by someone who has more experience?

She has also requested a copy of a mortgage application completed more than 12 months after the enquiry year. I see that the Commissioners rejected this approach as the application was for a mortgage and not for an SA return. Can someone advise me of the case as I have been unable to find it?

enquiry
The first rule of enquiries is DON'T try to do this on your own. Find somebody who is competent to deal with it and used to dealing with enquiries. it is worth the money.
