The right amount of tax not the maximum amount

The right amount of tax not the maximum amount

Didn't find your answer?

A few years ago a former Chairman of the Board of Inland Revenue gave a speech where he said the role of the officers of his department was to collect the correct amount of tax from each taxpayer and not the maximum amount of tax that could be squeeezed out of them, or words to that effect.

Does anyone else remember this speech, and even better could anyone provide me with a link to it?

Is this what you are thinking of ?

More readily remembered as the inspirational leader of the Revenue that; sold properties to tax haven companies and probably his finest hour - the Tax Credits Computer System

Thanks for the response. I think it was a bit later than that and was a Hardman Lecture or something similar.

The canal looks very pretty and autumnal at present. I note however that you are no longer at Arkwright House and the denizens of same profess to have never heard of you. Give me a call on 01484 844044 if you have a moment.

regards

Michael
