Ruler?

Ruler?

Didn't find your answer?

When I used paper I would sometimes have to use a ruler to mark my place when using the information or typing it into spreadsheets etc. I try to get information in better formats so it cuts down this work but I can still be left with it being a problem.

Is there anything like electronic markers for documents like bank statements in pdf where I could move the marker down to the next entry?

Ruler

Goto Tools, Select and Zoom, Loupe Tool,  Click on the PDF file then resize the box to a large and use the bottom edge as the Ruler. Regards Peter

Thanks

Thank you

I can see the Loupe Tool and I can see the sense in the bottom edge. From what you say, using the bottom edge alone is good enough if you are looking at a whole line and the Loupe Tool is only needed if you are moving slowly across the line.

It may seem obvious now but for me the bottom edge is good enough on it's own but amazingly I hadn't thought about it when I asked the question!

How about this?

When I try the Loupe tool the box is static, so it moves up as I scroll through the document.  Also, it's not possible to change the aspect ratio of box (e.g make it short and wide).  Maybe I've missed something.

As an alternative, I'd suggest a program called Meazure - http://www.cthing.com/Meazure.asp   It's free, although you can make a donation if it's useful.  It's really designed to measure things on screen (think web design, brochure layout etc) but will do for what you want.  The highlighted box stays where you position it initially and can be re-sized exactly how you want.  You'll need to select View > Always Visible and View > Collapse (to stop the program controls taking up too much space).  Hope this helps.

Cool Ruler

The best thing is Coolruler - do a search on Google to find it  - it is an ideal solution to the problem.

Nuance PDF Reader

I use Nuance PDF Reader (free, and no contributions requested). You can switch gridlines on/off as required, and it is a complete (and very capable) PDF reader  anyway.
