Sage 2008 Client Manager

Sage 2008 Client Manager

Didn't find your answer?

I am trying to pluck up the courage to upgrade our sage (network version) from 2007 to 2008. I recall that some months back there were problems particularly with the bank rec. My questions:
Have these been resolved?
Any other gremlins to be aware of?
Does the online filing of VAT work?

Any comments would be appreciated

Hot fixes
When you get your copy see what version it is and then go to the download section to see if there are any patches to download since your version.

I've been using 2008 for a while now and with all the patches it's working fine.

The VAT on-line submission works well and saves having to remember the User ID every time you want to submit your return as it is stored in the software, like the payoll on-line submission.

Ask Sage
Suggest you call Sage helpline and ask them directly if the patches resolved the issue, specifically loss of saved bank rec and corruption of .sgt invoice templates. If they say no, which I suspect they will, then as far as the bank rec goes then make sure you hit the reconcile button before the upgrade (so you have nothing to lose, so to speak), and park a pre-upgrade copy of the invoice templates on your desktop so you can re-insert them after the upgrade. I'm a bit of a dummy, but Sage talked me through all this and in the end it all worked again. But it took them a fair while to admit the problem was the program and not our system!

Also, for a belt and braces reassurance I took separate backups of everything PLUS a separate one of data only PLUS another one of everything except data. It took a while and may have been excessive, but at least I felt safe(er).

Not used the VAT online filing. Yet. We have no other problems now, other than an irritating tendency to shut down at random while running reports to PDF files. But that just means I stomp off in frustration for another coffee break, so it's not all that bad :)

Good luck.
