Sage accounting periods

Sage accounting periods

Didn't find your answer?

A client with a historical calendar year accounting period to December each year now wishes to complete a three month period and start again running from April to March each year.

January, February and March 2010 transactions have already been posted.

Is it possible to perform a year-end routine and begin anew year in Sage even though only three months have passed?

It is possible but not simple and they may not have the rights on their package to change the year end

They will need to take a backup now, close the year end to 31 December 2009, then change the year end end, then you will need to check it to correct for any corruption

March year end

Yes, but you need to do the following:

Assuming you have performed the December 09 year end

Change the year start date (Settings => Financial Year => Change)  to April 2009 this will give a year end of March 2010.

Run the year end and opening balances will be brought forward from 31 March 2010.

Take a full back up first so that if anything goes wrong you can restore the data.
