sage accounts production and windows XP

Didn't find your answer?

Me again!
Our IT guy is starting soon.
We have just upgraded some of our workstations to Dell Optiplex with Win XP. When we reinstalled our various packages we had a problem with locating the databases on the server. CCH Taxpoint were able to solve the problem, but Sage cannot.
The basic problem is that you have to be an administrator to set sage accs up. when the various users log on they cannot get into sage unless they have full administrator rights.
Even now we can't seem to get all of the users on at the same time.
Help!

Jay's comments match our experience.

unfortunately sage don't think it's as easy as Iain says. Hopefully they are reading this!

The last comment we had was that they hadn't got xp up and running but would do it when they got home.

so far no call back.

i will check that the set up is right but as far as i know sage took us through the set up procedures.

As for the sage bashing, if it's the only way to get them to care, bash away! I intend to.

ours works - no problems at all!
We run Sage accounts production/line 50/sage time and fees/cch taxpoint etc

Our system is a windows 2000 server with work stations running a combination of XP pro and windows 98 and all of our software works just fine - are you sure you've loaded your software properly?

You just need to ensure that the SAP on the workstations have the .mdb files mapped correctly and that you've enabled sharing on the server for the data files - it's not that difficult really.
