Sage Instant Accounts - Problem

Sage Instant Accounts - Problem

Didn't find your answer?

I use Sage Instant Accounts version 8.20. Whilst using the software, my PC froze up and I had to reboot (a PC problem not a software problem).

After rebooting and running a scandisk, whenever I tried to open the Sage Instant Accounts programme, I got an error message come up "User name is in use. The programme cannot connect you at this time."

I have tried uninstalling the software and reinstalling it, however I am still getting the same message.

Has anyone else had this problem and found a solution.

Many thanks for any answers.

Anne

It is online
The matter is dealt with online in the Sage Knowledgebase.

The patch referred to (and several others) are available from the Downloads area of the SageCover website. It says it has been there since May 2002.

You need to have purchased SageCover, of course ...

Not strictly Correct
Jay, Sage cover for the £100 software is about £85. Sage cover for Line 50 Accountant is £250 program is £500.

They are making changes to Sage cover, From 1 March there are two versions of Sage Cover available, Sage Cover and Sage Cover Extra but I have no idea what the difference is apart form the price. Sgae cover has traditionally provided unlimited telephone support, a lot of others don't. Whether that is now changing I don't know.

I think the real debate is whether what is little more than a bug fix should only be available to Sage Cover members. That seems wrong to me, even Microsoft doesn't charge for its security updates etc.

No idea
We had the same problem, rang Sage and then they sent the disk. They knew about it but as usual say nothing until you ask.

Most software developers seem to be like this when it comes to bugs, everything is wonderful when they are selling it and they don't want to know when you have bought it.

Try this
I have had this problem before, and you do not get the option to remove the user.

Try this:

Go to start menu
Click find
Find the file called queue.dta

This should find one file for every company that has been installed i.e. one for the demo company and one for your actual company.

Delete all queue.dta files that are found.

This should then let you back in to Sage.

You should then load the "service pack" disk which is provided with the software to stop this happening again.

Known Issue
If you don't have the service pack ring Sage and they will send you a CD with it on. It is a known issue in newer versions of Instant Accounts. Version 8 onwards mainly I think.

User name in use?
When this happens, you will normally be asked if you wish to remove the user name. If you click yes it will give a warning that data may be lost etc. However, assuming you have a single user license, this should not matter and let you in.

After that the message should disappear.

If you have any further problem please email me.
