Sage L50 V13 and Vista

Sage L50 V13 and Vista

Didn't find your answer?

Client in question put Sage L50 v13 on Vista, and it kept crashing the software, and didn't display all information in the customer and supplier records.

After 1 3/4 hour phone call with Sage technical support, they stated v13 was not designed for Vista, so offered the client a free Sage L50 2008, which was.

When I asked Sage if this was a standard approach for such a problem (Very unlike them to offer an upgrade as a freeeby!), they said it was dependant on 'the circumstances'.

Have any other bods out there experienced this, and in general, what problems have people had with Vista loading similar accounts packages. If there have been any difficulties, what should we be aware of in Vista?

Your thought and answers would be gratefully appreciated.

Ta!

Ask first!
This is an issue we come across so many times with all sorts of software.
Our advice for all customers is to check with the software supplier before either buying new applications (e.g. Sage) or operating systems (e.g. Vista). It is particularly important to business critical applications.
This doesn't just apply to Sage. Whenever Microsoft etc. bring out a new operating system it always takes software houses time to catch up and it is not reasonable to expect them to make older products compatible with new systems.
And don't just think of aplications lick accounting systems - there are printer drivers, older versions of Adobe Pro, etc. etc.
In Sage's defence, at least they tried to help when they could have justifiably said 'sorry, it's not compatible' straight away.
