Sage Line 100 auditing

Sage Line 100 auditing

Didn't find your answer?

Just pitching for some business with a company who run Line 100.

My firm is experienced with Line 50, but not line 100. Qs:

1. I guess you cannot transfer data from L100 abck to L50 (thinking about getting a nominal ledger to process).

2. Presume its possible to dump day book reports, ledger detail reports, etc, from Line 100 out to CSV for analysis and manipulation.

3. Anyone got any practical pearls of Wisdom for auditing a Line 100 client?

Thanks in anticipation

We use Sage MMS, the replacement for Line 100, in our manufacturing firm.

Having had lots of Line 50 experience, MMS is a more grown up / traditional system with separate ledgers which are closed each month etc.

You may find the best way to get in to the data is to download a selection of tables into Microsoft access, you can retrieve data from MMS via ODBC links. Some of the table descriptions are relatively clear, eg Accounting System Nominal Ledger shows the balances month by month.

Nightmare
We have one client who uses Line 100, and getting csv files from them and analysing them in Excel is a nightmare! The Aged Creditor has two lines for each transaction and no column headings...Arrggghhh

However, having said that, this particular company is thinking about going to Line 50 and apparently there is a way to do this by one of the 3rd party developer solutions.

See thread where I asked this exact question.

I also had an answer from the Sage accountants forum which was along the same lines. You might want to check their website for some developer leads.

SageL100 and audit
I'm pleased to say I stopped needing to use Sage last year, but up to that point, I used it for several companies who required full audits, that I worked for internally. None of the auditors required downloads. A month before the audit, I would be given a list of everything they required, and I would set up a "audit file" with hard copy print outs of everything they required in addition to spreadsheet analysis etc.

Sometimes they would ask for additional print outs, but I would do it for them and they would never dream of doing it themselves even though they could have had a export copy to work from!

IDEA
This has been mentioned before, but IDEA can easily handle reports with two lines/record.

Quite a learning curve but a good product.
