Seafarers earnings deduction

Seafarers earnings deduction

Didn't find your answer?

Its January and I'm going round in circles please help!
If some one leaves UK to work on a ship in Nov.2005 and qualifies for the eligible period to Nov. 2006 am I correct in thinking that the deduction can be claimed on the tax return to 5 April 2006 for the Seafarers income earned Nov 2005 to 5 April 2006.

Yes
You can claim for the period included in the tax return as long as the full 365 day qualifying period has been completed, and the half day rule not broken. It should be a simple case of entering the amount of tax paid from Nov - April in box 1.37, (or thereabouts, its been a while!). The pay slips should give you all the info you need for an FED.

Hope this helps
Sarah
