Self Assessment late filing penalties

Our postbag arrived this morning weighed down with late filing penalty notices in respect of ELS returns that were filed in the run up to 31 January. Our time costs in dealing with these notices will add to the time spent pre 31 January checking that returns filed via ELS had been received by the Revenue. As readers may be aware, problems were encountered with ELS during January but it seems unfair that our clients should have to suffer the costs relating thereto. We intend to seek financial compensation from the Revenue on behalf of our clients and wonder whether any other practitioners feel the same?
