self-assessment on line problems? again!!!

Didn't find your answer?

I have tried on numerous occasions to log in today on HMRC website to check our clients self assessment account, or confirm 64-8 have been processed to enable us to file their tax return on line but guess what? Can't do. It tells me the page cannot be displayed.

I am getting nightmare. with more than 50% of tax return still to send to HMRC is this panic time???

Under repair? Again!
Planned maintenance is occurring this weekend. Hopefully the new features will actually be working on Monday morning, but I'm not holding my breath.

HMRC website erratic for past month
I've had regular problems with the HMRC website for a few weeks now. It seems OK first thing in the morning; then you just cannot get into the practitioner online section - sometimes for hours. The statements of account for clients vanished for a while & I couldn't see if clients had been sent repayments - I emailed the helpdesk & did get an apologetic reply saying this feature would return - & it did last week.
I assume the problems may be due to so many people using the website - which doesn't bode well for January. The Gateway seems to cope better so filing of returns should be fine if you have 3rd party software but it is tiresome being unable to see the full details on the main website.

Self Assessment HMRC Website problems
I have just managed to finally "clean up" my 64-8 client list held against my practice. It was a lengthy process to find out about "Fast track" 64-8's that were sent to Longbenton for processing, involving phone calls to the local HMRC offices to see if we were registered etc. One client, about which I had received correspondence from the local HMRC office did not appear on the list. The reason was that when processing the 64-8 the wrong Post Code for the practice had been recorded (they recorded ther client's post code). The HMRC then issued a new Agent code to cover this unknown practice ! To unwind this one I was told by the online help desk to telephone the Agent record manager and ask them to correct the "GG" record. I dutifully rang the records manager who did not understand this
request at all !Common sense did prevail, the reason for the mistake was discovered and three weeks later all clients are now correct.
- Until my next batch of new clients !
