Self assessment record software bugs

Self assessment record software bugs

Didn't find your answer?

I have been informed by the IR that because my client received a tax refund after submitting a Return on-line which the IR later thought was excessive (although they have agreed it wasn't) I can no longer access the client's self-assessment record on the IR site. This is a known bug (for at least a year) with no date for the fix.
Even after the IR have corrected the 'over-refund' I will still not be able to access the record.

Are there any more bugs in the IR system I should be aware of which will limit my ability to access the client's records?

Still not fixed
When this is fixed it'll have been worth abandoning ELS. There's much more scope for exchange of information over the internet but they should have got the essentials right first.

SA001 still not fixed - 5 Feb 2008
I see that SA001 is still not fixed as of 5 Feb 2008.

Bug fixes obviously take time....

Same problem different reason
I appear to have the same problem I cannot gain access to clients details. All returns in but had been fined for not producing documents fast enough in an enquiry. No additional tax due but website will not allow me to look at any details on client account. I had been told there are no details to look at but no mention of a bug.

Same problem, same reason
I called the online services helpdesk because when I tried to view a client's account online, it said "Our system does not currently support the display of your Self Assessment account. Please contact us for further information (quoting reference SA001)." When they came back to me, they confirmed that it was the excessive repayment glitch and no, they did not know when it would be fixed, but yes, you can still submit tax returns. If you cannot view the account, how can you check whether the repayment is excessive or not?

It is rather worrying that the glitch is number SA001. Are we to expect 998 more on self-assessment?

Sequestration
I have a client who went into sequestration about two years ago. I had a 64-8 in place and spoke to HMRC about him several times. However this seems to have been lost as they wont deel with me any more and have no record of 64-8. Have sent several more but they dont semm to get actioned.

SA001 - the saga continues...

Problem still there - and it's now 15 January 2010.
I still can't view my own data.
According to the helpline they're still working on the solution.
Cheers,
Peter
