self assessment software

self assessment software

Didn't find your answer?

Can anyone recommend self assessment software that does not cost an arm and a leg and has proved realiable.

I know of one that does not prove realiable and prints out junk reports.

Tax Software
Assuming you are in the profession try Tax Assistant from Drummhorr Technology - This costs around £400 / £500 per annum and there is no limit on clients etc., and I have found this user friendly and have used this for over two years now and it appears to get better each year. Strongly recommend ELS - Saved me lots of time driving to the tax office. By using ELS I calculate that on the 250 tax returns my office submitted this saved at least two weeks worth of admin time all for £75 on ELS - There are lots of other benefits getting tax refunds often with four / five days - and helps you get paid quicker

In fact I am the only accountant dealing with tax returns - who was able to take the day of on the 31st January 2001 as I had filed and had my tax returns accepted (all be it running my wifes business!!)

Hope this helps - if you need the phone number give me a call 0115-9785244

Sunday Times review
Paul Scholes may have been referring to a review of tax return software that ran in last week's Sunday Times. There's a short summary on AccountingWEB, with a link to the complete article.

Self Assessment Software
For personal use or for an accountancy practice?

If the latter, then we use Taxability Pro and, being nearly 75% through the Self Assessment rush, do not know how we managed without it.

Software
I wholeheartedly agree with Paul Scholes' remarks about IRIS.

Self-assessment software
I would add my vote of confidence for Iris also.
I'm a sole practitioner, have used Iris for 8 months, and it is excellent.
Previously I used PTP, which is very good, but does not have a dedicated accounts package.
The time saved from integration of accounts and tax easily compensates for the additional expense.

Horses for Courses
Not sure how much arms & legs go for these days but I've found you get what you pay for.

There was a review of the revenue's own software recently (developed by Digita I think) as well as Which etc, however I can't now find it in Taxzone. Maybe search?

I have heard good things about PTP's (www.ptpgroup.co.uk) we have used other software of theirs and found it very user friendly.

For our 250 odd clients however we use IRIS by Transaction Technology www.ttsoftware.co.uk)& can't recommend all of their software highly enough. Over the years it's probably cost us a few hundred limbs but these have easily been paid for in client satisfaction and lack of wasted time experienced with lesser packages.

Good Luck
