Simple time and fees system

Simple time and fees system

Didn't find your answer?

We are a small relatively new practice with 5 staff who are looking for a simple (and not too expensive) time and fees system to record the time we spend on different aspects of client work.

We use Line 50 for basic accounts work and IRIS for accounts production and tax etc. We have looked at both Sage and IRIS time and fees systems and they look far too complex for what we currently need and they are not cheap.

Has anyone come across any simple time and fees software whcih we could use via our server for all to staff to access and record their time.

We only need relatively straightforward reports showing time spent by employee by activity over different time periods and time spent by client showing the different types of work performed, again over different time periods.

Any suggestions or recommendations much appreciated.

Think big act small
I'd always go for an integrated solution because you have to make the assumption that nothing stands still and that you will be the next Big Four player. Even if the reality turns out differently. Most people end up in trouble with software because they didn't think this through from day one.

Thesaurus
We've acquired Thesaurus Timelink recently. It seems to fit the bill but we're not bringing it online fully until after 31 Jan! Worth a look.

(I'm not a sales rep..)

Try looking at PTP's software.

I use a number of their software products already and am looking into using their time-keeping software which I think is around £150.

My former employer's use it and they say it is very good and simple to use.

Try Timesheet Express...
I have been using the free softwaqre supplied by Acsen for some time now. It's great and I have been wanting to recommend it on AWeb for a while.

You may need the pro version but it is very cheap and seems to do a good job.

Try: -

SkyEnterprise for timesheets?
Hi Philip,
you may not have looked at SkyEnterprise before, but if you would like to view an on-line demo of Module 1 which deals with timesheet recording (and expenses if necessary), please visit: http://www.skynetas.com/demos_online.html

Licences are based on a concurrent model so you do not need one licence for every user - just enough to cover simultaneous use. The cost is £150 per licence (one off cost), and support & maintenance is available at 20% of the full cost of software (charged annually). This includes all helpdesk calls and regular software upgrades.

If you would like any further details, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Kind Regards,

Timexpress from Star
We used this for many years - Iseem to recall approx £400 with no compulsory ongoing support. We do now use IRIS but it's horses for courses and depends what you want out of it

Have you tried Vertisys's time and fee package?
Vertisys's package may be good for you. It costs around £300 per year and it does all the things you mentioned as well as being a practice management and accounting package. Go to www.vertisys.co.uk and try the trial pack.

Take a look at Twinfield
Our Twinfield product has a simple but functional time and expense capability that might work for you. It is a Software as a Service product, so rather than sit on your server it would be accessed by any PC with Internet access. It could then easily export the transactions in to your Line50. We'd have to check the pricing works for you though - people usually buy Twinfield for online accounting and use the T&E functionality as an added bonus. Please mail or call so we can discuss it.

What did you go for Philip?
I've just asked the same question as you & been directed to yours. Can you tell me what system you went for?
