Small international receipts

Small international receipts

Didn't find your answer?

I'm a trustee of a small charity, income c £100k pa.

Approximatly 60% of our income comes from the UK, 30% US and 10% Worldwide.

We have banking and tax reclaim facilities in the US for our US donors, and, of coourse, in the UK, we accept donations by cash/cheque and reclaim tax under gift aid.

However the other 10% non US non UK income is an issue.

Most of the receipts are small - mainly £50 to £100, occasionally £1,000.

Negotiating foregin checks is slow and expensive, and its not realistic for us to bank in each jurisdriction.

I was thinking of arranging a credit card acceptance facility, but £20 p/m terminal rental + banks commission is unactractive.

So, does any one have any practical thoughts on:

- merchant faciltities for low volume users
- viability of using paypal or similar for this
- any other ideas?

Online web forms
Best approach is surely Paypal and NoChex using their 'no sign up' web form.

The difficulty is accepting credit card donations over the phone. Technically you can use a Nochex form as agent, but whether you can contractually is another matter.
