small practice software

Didn't find your answer?

I am reviewing our practice software re accounts (s/t pship companies) and tax (personal and company). Looking at Absolute software and would be obliged for any users comments on it. With sage at the moment - just want to be sure that links between accounts to ptax/business tax/pship tax/corp tax are all automatic ie no inputting figures into tax forms! and that the changeover is relatively painless! so any practical feedback would be welcomed - thanks in advance

Absolute

We changed in November from CCH, having changed to CCH from sage. We have no regrets whatsoever, it is new software so there are a few bugs but they are working to clear them and the support staff are excellent. I won't say it is 100% integrated (yet) but it is far more integrated than sage was when we used it. The cost savings are huge and we find it simple to operate. Hope this helps

We too.

We started with Apex, now Sage Accounts Production, and inputted manually to PTP. We dropped PTP about the time they sold out and moved to Sage taxation for integration some three or so years ago. We have had to work around lots of issues and at times we feel the old way was quicker and easier. We will be reviewing our software requirements next month and hope to hear from others on this thread about their recommendations.

re me too

All i can suggest is give it a try, there is a free trial version which is a working copy, you just update the licences to make it a fully functioning. Having used sage taxation I know what you mean, absolute is a lot more straightforward. With regard to the changeover, we were the first ones to go to them from CCH, the developers worked hard to make sure our data came over Ok. I think they already have the 'paths' to import sage into absolute.

Thanks for responses

when using absolute are accounts from sole trader/partnership/ltd co all automatically processed into the respective tax programs (as sage) from which we can then prepare tax returns - would help to have this single point clarified from any user ie someone who is at the "coal face"!! -  thanks again - any other comments welcomed

Digita

I'm a sole practitioner and I use Digita which isn't as cheap as some of the software on offer but it is integrated. Digita have the resources to keep ahead of what most accounting and tax software suppliers will offer in the future yet is still flexible enough to address what their customers want.

Re thanks for responses

Yes it does, for example in partnership, you set the partnership up in clientbase, go to accounts, input accs then go to tax and open up SA800 for ptnship there is a facility in the SA800 to post  the individuals profit share. All this is done automatically, you only post the accounts, any disallowables (depc'n is automatically disallowed) and any cap allowances the system takes care of the rest. Ltd co's are similar for CT600's. Sole traders you can either post accs and progress as above or input directly to tax return. Another advantage is electronic posting to both HMRC and companies house, which I believe is the iXRBL system that's 'hot gossip' at the moment
