Does anybody know of any books or courses about spreadsheet design. On more than one occasion I have heard the term "Industry Standard" but wonder if there really is such a thing.

Good spreadsheet design
I am very interested in learning about good spreadsheet design; not what the formulae do, and how to use pivot tables etc, but how to structure a spreadsheet so it is easy to use, easy to develop, less liable to have links corrupted etc.
Any one know of any relevant courses or books?
Try the ProductivITy Kit Excel module
Andrew,
The results from our IT Zone Survey show that more than three quarters of accountants use Excel for some sort of purpose. Excel is so popular that has become a "de facto" industry standard for analysing and reporting accounts data.
You can buy an Excel training package designed specifically for accountants by Simon Hurst - right here on AccountingWEB in a matter of minutes. His ProductivITy Kit Excel module covers:
* Advanced charting
* Presentation – number formats, working with text and underlining
* The lunchtime Pivot
* Working with accounting data
* Designing reliable spreadsheets – protection, documentation, templates
It costs £60+VAT, but you also get a regular "ProductivITy Tips" newswire from Simon. You can take a look at a free sample from the charting tutorial at:
