Spreadsheets

Spreadsheets

Didn't find your answer?

Having used spreadsheets for 20 years
and developed same to enable me to download month end TB and build Accounts
and year end forecasts etc; model may
now be a bit over complex and prone to
errors; need a commercial software which
is more robust but flexible.
Anyone any idea's ??

Sage Forecast update
Sage said they did have a cut-down version of WinForecast known as Sage forecast, but said that it was not currently marketing it.

WinForecast iself is undergoing an overhaul and the company spokesperson said that a cut-down version should follow "by the back end of the summer".

Sage Forecast worth checking
Frank - an interesting question that has opened my eyes up a little; but as others have mentioned, it would help to know a little more about your priorities (eg multi-client book-keeping, heavyweight forecasting, or other?).

If forecasting is the most important capability, my main pointer would be towards the Sage.com website, which has more info on Sage WinForecast Professional. This is pretty much the industry standard for standalone forecasting tools and has the advantage of integrating with Sage Line 50.

But while I was there, I noticed some blurb about Sage Forecast, which is new to me and appears to be an entry-level product that links to Sage Instant Accounting. Thanks to your question, I'm going to do some checking - If low price and low volume work are important to you, it might be worth considering.

I'm not too familiar with MYOB and other basic accounting packages, which might have the features you seek. Previous commenters have also put forward some useful suggestions.

Good luck

Flexible Spreadsheet?
Frank, you could try Fulcrum's Spreadsheet (available through AccWeb site that takes Accs from TB through to Final production and seems to be foolproof.
If you want to try a cheap accounting prog, you could check out http://www.Moneysoft.co.uk for Money Manager and Final Accounts. Very easy to use and you can export reports to Excel through cut 'n paste - useful if you want to email a detailed spreadsheet to a client or external auditor. Saves a whole lot of paperwork.

a bit more info please
both answers so far are i am sure correct. what i would like further info on is the relevant importance of the the following

day to day accounting
annual acs prep
forecasting
number of clients
(no mention of tax!)

i have used most software in my practice and currently use QuickBooks and Moneysoft (i am only the number 2 fan after Mr Mackay!) and both are excellent, QB automatically exports to excel with options which is amazing and moneysoft goes via clipboard to excel, so take your pick on that score

if i had to hazard a guess re integrated forecasting and annual acs production it may have to be sage who continue to improve with comptetion and are at last offering some reasonably priced project

for stat acs prep its Digita acs pro for me
