Still time to code out 2005/06 underpayment?

Still time to code out 2005/06 underpayment?

Didn't find your answer?

I have not been issued with a Return but have just run a calculation on my earningsfrom employment. I have a new BIK for 2005/06 which has not been coded out yet so I calculate a small tax liability of £300. During 2006/07 I have started pension contributions so will also have a higher rate claim for relief. This will give rise to a repayment of tax. Can I request that these adjustments are coded out or must I make payment of the 2005/06 balance and claim repayment of 2006/07 next year?

No
The offical date on the last working together (sic!) notice sent out for underpayments to be included in coding is the 30 November, although they will try and include all such underpayments informed before 31 December

nothing to stop you making request
Nothing to stop you making request, it is just that HMRC are not obligated to acceed to your request.(they say that they need from 30th September to 5th April to be sure of being able to sode it out, beyond that no guarantee - later date for internet filing of 31st Dec)
The advice would have to be to send your payment also and complete the repayment section in the Return. Then if they do code out, your payment will come right back to you.
