I seem to have a number of normally reliable clients in receipt of surcharge notices in respect of alleged outstanding payments due at 31 January. HMRC SA records confirm no payments made, hence the application of the charge. Clients are confirming that payment was made, but HMRC unable to trace and match even though confirmed through the bank. Is there a wider problem out there?
