SYSTEM FOR TIMERECORDING AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT

SYSTEM FOR TIMERECORDING AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT

Didn't find your answer?

I am looking for suggestions for software that manages timerecording and project performance

We are a company involved in developing supporting and implementing core banking software. We have a number of projects off site in a variety of countries and also have local and offshore development and administrative centers.

We are replacing our current timerecording system. The new system must be able to capture all time worked through out the orgaisation and interface with project management systems to enable project progrees analysis and forecasting, billing and capitalsiation.

We have around 100 employees, and are an Oracle Business Partner. The system must allow remote input through the internet and remote reporting.

Typical projects use upto ten resources and last upto one year.

Any suggestions or contacts at suppliers would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou.

PSA - Professional Service Automation - What's Out There
There's lots of glorified time & expense and project management packages which claim to be PSA software (some of which have been mentioned below) and if you want limited solutions (but not necessarily at the associated cost-point!) then that's fine. If you want to manage projects from the resource point of view (ie drive the car by looking through the front windscreen, rather than permanently gazing in the rear-view mirror) then check out the PSA software as mentioned below.

The pure-play leaders are Novient, Changepoint, Niku, Evolve, Account4, Deltek, Maconomy and the only-available-on-ASP Portera. The ERP vendors who have effectively integrated PSA facilities are (in ascending order of cost!) epicor, Cedar and PeopleSoft, with Oracle promising its contribution in Q3 2001.

That should be enough for you to be getting on with, I would suggest. Contact me on [email protected] if you'd like to explore the issue further - I've been putting together PSA solutions since twenty years before Aberdeen invented the market!

Higher-end solutions
Adrian

If you are looking for the higher-end solution, then you should do some research around "Professional Services Automation" products.

Starting point - www.google.com and use the above as your search term.

This is a link to an interesting article I found thus:
http://www.itaa.org/itserv/itswp3.htm

Note also from that search: Oracle seem to have something in the area:

Look here:

http://www.oracle.com/appsnet/products/psa/

This is their blurb para:

"Oracle's E-Business Suite for Professional Services Organizations provides the integrated opportunity management, resource management, knowledge management, collaboration, and project accounting capabilities essential for profitable, consistent, high quality delivery of services. Oracle's solution for Professional Services Automation (PSA) is comprised of components of E-Business Suite specifically designed for global services organizations. "

Take a look on AccountingWEB too!
If you search on 'PSA' on AccountingWEB, you should pick up a few items, particularly from SharpOWL, a UK company that has nailed its colours to the PSA mast.

In September Foundation Systems launched the SharpOWL product range, for project-oriented services businesses:
https://www.accountingweb.co.uk/item/25908/448

In June 2001, SharpOWL "flew the coop" and set up as an independent company:
https://www.accountingweb.co.uk/item/49783/448

I have just seen demos of the product, so I can't say it's what you're looking for, but worth investigating furher.
