TAS BOOKS 1 Software failing

TAS BOOKS 1 Software failing

Didn't find your answer?

Apparently TAS ( a division of SAGE )are still shipping out TAS BOOKS 1 version 5 knowing that it is not possible to print out the audit trail by transaction.

Once the problem has been stumbled across by the client and a call made to TAS, the client is advised to download a fix from the website.

Having spoken to TAS I was told that the new version had been "tested to within an inch of it's life" and the BETA group testers had not mentioned it as a problem. Since the Audit Trail by Transaction is such a vital report I am surprised.

I ordered two copies for clients only 10 days ago and no-one at TAS thought to mention the problem. One copy was installed for the client last week. Today I received a call for help to fix an imbalance and the client could not print the audit trail.

For such a good program it is a terrible shame to have the new version shipped out with an obvious error.

Has anyone else had problems?

Confused about the comment '..imbalance..'
Does this mean that a double-entry accounting package doesn't balance?

Entries may have been incorrectly posted but this should not affect the arithmetic

Surely by definition software sold as an accounting package must balance - otherwise it does not do the job and the Sale of Good 'fit for purpose' must have an impact

where do you get the fix from?
Robert, any chance of telling us the URL of this fix? Can't seem to find anything about it in the www.tassoft site.

The TAS blurb about version 5 talks about enhancing the tag code functionality for project costing. Looks interesting. I'll make some enquiries.

re TAS 1
I think TAS Books 1 is a waste of time. It is an attempt by TAS to produce a product that avoids at all costs the notion of double entry because of end users who are perceived as phobic on that subject. Personally I would rather spend some time explaining d/e principles to the user (not rocket science is it?).

On the other hand TAS Books 2/3 are excellent user friendly easy to pick up with logical menu groupings and now quite a lot of functionality in v5.

You can upgrade a TAS 1 file easily.
