Tax Cards, budget reports and website

Tax Cards, budget reports and website

Didn't find your answer?

I'm looking at buying post-budget tax cards/budget reports etc to send to clients and other people we've networked with.

We received in the post a glossy brochure from a company called practicetrack (www.practicetrack.co.uk) who want to sell me tax cards for £155 for 100 and £50 per extra hundred, including a b&w logo (extra for colour logo).

Budget reports are £235 for 100 and newsletters are £195 for 100.

Is this company the best value for money? Are there alternatives? Indeed, should I really invest in these things? Is it a productive use of the marketing budget?

They are also offering a website (www.exampleandco.co.uk) for £195 per month, which seems to me to be quite expensive. What are my alternatives, and is it worth the cost?

Does anyone else use these cards/reports/website, and does it bring in clients?

All the best

Andrew

Why not do something different?

My view - clients dont use or read tax cards at all - they are produced by suppliers who know they will impress accountants.

The websites look impressive but what about getting a designer to do something unique for you - your ideas, your business not just another clone?

hard to find a designer
I've been looking for a web designer for ages, but the designers know nothing about programming, the programmers know nothing about writing, the writers know nothing about accountancy, and the accountant is going rouund in a circle.
Even if I got someone to build it, I'd still need someone to provide content, which I'd either have to write (unrealistic) or pay for anyway.

Stuck between a devil and a hard place....

Tax cards are no worse than fanct business cards, are they really a waste of time?

I agree that taxcards are probably not used by clients

They are just part of the arsenal of freebies that we offer them so as to keep our name in their radar.

For your website take a look at www.accountantwebsmiths.co.uk. They offer a bespoke website which is £95 per month. Also a separate package for only £35 per month which provides updated content to your own site.

Website

@SteveOH: thank you for the mention.

@Anonymous: to be fair with PracticeTrack - even though they are a competitor ;) - for the £195/month you would be getting a design that is unique to your practice. Only the content - or part of it - might be "cloned".
[start plug]This is an offer similar to the one mentioned by SteveOH that we do for £95 per month [/end plug].

@aiwalters: the website should really be the central piece of your marketing efforts and it can't be expected to generate leads if it just "sits there" without being promoted in your email signatures, business cards, flyers, comp slips, letterhead, search engines... or rates cards if you decide to sign up for them.

I am sure Keith, my business partner, would be more than happy to have a chat with you about the use of rate cards if you want to give him a call. He's a chartered accountant with a background in marketing while I am more of a designer/programmer/seo, so would be out of my depth.
