Tax credits

Tax credits

Didn't find your answer?

I would like to know how much has been written off in overpaid tax credits and how much has been written off in tax credits claimed to have been overpaid by the Tax Credit Office. In February this year, the TCO asked me to repay £988.92 for 2004 they said had been overpaid to me. It was fairly easy to piece together the method of calculation of the credit by using a bit of common sense. Taking into account the additional threshold of £2,500 (which they never told anyone about, originally), I arrived at an overpayment of £62.45. I have written to the TCO three times about this since February and I am still awaiting a reply. Eventually, I found the delay tiresome and sent them a cheque for the £62.45. How much have they 'written off' in my case, £988.32, £988.32 less £62.45 or nothing? It would be interesting to find out, especially in view of my calculation for 2005, showing that they still owe me a bob or two for that year. (My apologies to those too young to know what a 'bob' is!)
