Tax Credits

Tax Credits

Didn't find your answer?

Got there in the end. Thank god for third party software.
For me this was one of the more "intense" Januarys for filing SATRs, with the consequence that we got all of the SATRs in (for which we felt responsible) but I am reasonably certain that there were several tax credit claimants who had renewed by 31 July 2007, advising at that time of estimated 2006-07 income, but who have missed the 31 January deadline for finalising the declaration of 2006-07 income. Assuming that we identify these and file the income details in the first week of February, can anyone tell me please what are the practical consequences, particularly if the award should have increased by reason of reduced income abatement? (I have no doubt that if the award decreases they will act on the February notification).

TCO in administrative chaos
The Tax Credits Office (TCO) currently appear to be in some form of administratitive chaos.

The Adjudicators Office is aware of this issue.

Don't expect any satisfactory response to correspondence anytime soon.

The above problems will not, however, slow the TCO down in withdrawing tax credits from those who renewed late, followed by demands for repayment of tax credits already made.

The chaos only affects dealing with putting TCO errors right such as re-instating Tax Credits claim where wrongly withdrawn.
