Tax Credits - HMRC notification of errors

Tax Credits - HMRC notification of errors

Didn't find your answer?

A few months ago my client received a letter from HMRC stating that their tax credit applications were of a small number that were being looked at because it was believed there were errors in the final calculations (03/04 and 04/05). The letter concluded by saying that the client would not be asked for any payments with regard to these years. They have now been sent payslips for considerable sums in relation to the relevant years.
As I have only been dealing with this client for approximately 2 years, I wasn't party to any of these particular applications for tax credits. Could someone please tell me if this is normal practice?
