Tax helpline
Can anyone recommend a tax helpline for technical queries, really for the more complex items. We would rather pay a monthly subscription than a per call fee.
Thanks
Tax Faculty
Are you a Tax Faculty member? We have used their 'Ask An Expert' facility on occasion - on a pay as you go basis.
Otherwise, Nichola Ross Martin (Rebecca's predecessor as AWEB editor) offers a 'Virtual Tax Partner' service.

If you subscribe ...
... to either CCH or lexisnexis for their reference manuals, those subscriptions both come with a "free" technical support helpline. "Free" of course only in the sense that the cost is embedded in the annual subscription, but at least there is no marginal cost per call.

Have you experience
Has anyone got experience of this helpline, do they tend to be good and pretty clued up?
The Tax Advice Network
Or you can use:

The benefit of this approach could be rather than just answering your tax query as an isolated issue they may also identify further tax saving opportunities/tax planning.

Tax Helpline
Access to tax and VAT helplines for the practice and a legal advice line for clients is also available as part of a Fee Protection Scheme from Abbey Tax Protection.
Alternatively, practitioners can subscribe to a telephone helpline for UK tax/VAT advice, help with tax investigations from one of our ex-HMRC inspectors and assistance with status/CIS matters.
If you require further infomration please contact Margo McKenzie on 0870 607 7000 or visit www.abbeytax.co.uk
Fixed monthly subscription
I work with all sort of firms on a flexible basis, so I am happy to do a fixed fee, although if you want me to design you a share plan for directors we will have to negotiate this separately!
From what I can tell, most people come to me because the subscription helplines only give belt and braces advice from a stranger. With me, you know it is me, and so we can build up a working relationship. If you have query give it a go, and see how we get on.
I want your tax guides
Nicola, how and when can I download your tax guides?
