objective tax
I found it quite difficult and cumbersome and the assistance poor. This was back on 1997. I now use PTP which is I am very happy with.

It works very well!
Within my firm, both I and (much more extensively) my boss use Objective Tax to prepare tax returns. On the whole it works very well, albeit with a few hiccups from time to time, and one or two small areas which sometimes need manual override. I'd guess it's as near perfect a package as one could ever expect. I'm sure if my boss reads this, he would be in a better position to go into more detail! However, in brief, some of its features are:
Ability to do partnership returns and transfer relevant details onto the partners' TR's
Ability to carry forward info from year to year (overlap relief, for example)
Fully updatable client database, tax office database, etc
Automatically gets time-apportionments right, when dealing with commencements, changes of accounting date, etc
Mind you, there are one or two situations that confuse the poor program, so its best to do manual comp's first and then check Obj.Tax results against them!
Hope that helps!
