Technical Knoweldge Books

Didn't find your answer?

Dear Members,

I am an ACCA finalist , Have been in job for 6 Months in a Practice ....

If i am stuck some time, i go back and check my study notes but they are not very much practical to deal with higher issues at job.

I would appreciate your valuable recommendations if there are some Tax and Accounting Refrence Books to gain knoweldge and give Expert Advice to the Clients. As i want to be good accountant .

Training Not Always Up To Standard
I am recently qualified, though with ACA, but I have the same problem that you do.

90% of what you study for in exams is not relevant to anything in your working life.

As far as tax is concerned I am now studying for the CTA exams which is an excellent course of study for those who wish to build on their tax knowledge.

However, the majority of the day to day accounting administration work which newly qualified accountants need to carry out is not covered by any syllabus and if the practice you work in is rather impaired in terms of the training provided you are going to find yourself lacking in the necessary experience.

This is certainly something I found in my previous job where you where just expected to knock out accounts from the day you started your training contract to the day you qualified. I hadn't even filled in a CT600 till 6 months after qualification!
