Client has a BR tax code and has been extracting £408 gross all tax year but not paid any PAYE over - will he be liable to interest on late paid tax or is there none as long as its paid by 19 April 2006?

Late PAYE
Did hear mutterings some time ago that failure to remit monthly/quarterly could affect the on-line filing incentive.
No evidence of 2004/05 being affected, despite some clients being tardy, but now we/they are "on the hook" will HMRC use it for incentive denial 2005/06??
Time will tell!!
I thought interest was charged if ...
...when payment was made you used the correct P30 payment slip for each quarter - eg if you send payments slips now for the quarters to 05.07.05, 05.10.05 and 05.01.06 then interest would be backdated to 19.07.05, 19.10.05 and 19.01.06 respectively. Maybe I'm wrong. Interest could be avoided by paying the whole lot using the 05.04.06 payslip by 19.04.06 - though use of that payslip, but this isn't strictly correct. If it was me I would use the correct payslips and the client would have to pay the interest.
May get a slapped wrist..
..for not operating the PAYE scheme properly though.
If BR code was not appropriate then he should have requested that it was changed.
