Till rolls for VAT
I have just been speaking with a client in retail. Their old faithful till died and they have had to buy a new one which is rather more complicated and computer-like. Unlike the old till, this one does not have two rolls in i.e. one for the customer, one to keep. They can print off a report at the end of the day summarising the transactions, would this be adequate for HMRC or is a full breakdown required to show each sale?
Have tried phoning HMRC but they are not currently answering, as they haven't been for the last couple of months! Couldn't find anything on their website except general references which implied the 'roll' was required, but nothing specific.
Has anyone come across this at all?
