We are looking to purchase an accounting package that has a timesheet recording function. We need the timesheet entry to be done by each individual user via the LAN and then approval to be given by an authorised user prior to its posting to the accounting system. We also require the ability to assign each indiviual more than one charge out rate (ie audit work being costed at a different rate to accounting work). Does anyone have any suggestions as to which software package merits a look?

Found time recording package meeting our needs
After ocnsidering various options we decided to go for Tempus Pro Online. I must say that they have been very efficient and helpful in the installation and in helping us out with our initial queries. We have had this software up and running for 6 months now and are extremely pleased with it - it meets all our needs and is extremely user friendly and easy to use.
We have had a number of updated versions released in the past 6 months (four I think) and in one of them they even included one recommendation/request that we had.
So if you are looking for a time recording program please take a look at Tempus Pro as it is well worth it.

Real time posting of timesheets into Accounts
We are an Access Accounting reseller and they have a product called Transaction Broker. This is a middleware piece of software that can 'broker' in transactions from any external Windows based application.
We have a number of clents who use MS Access databases to trap timesheet and expense information that is then transprently posted into Accounts and Costing on a timed basis. This reduces the amount of user licences the client needs for their accounting systems and also uses standard software that most people use their desktop for the data entry

Subject to your other systems for accounts, tax etc I would recommend Iris to handle all your client services needs, incorporating a full time & fees ledger.
All programmes revolve around a central client database and you can tailor your work practices on iris to match time recording & visa versa.
