Trust tax calculation

Trust tax calculation

Didn't find your answer?

HMRC have very recently re-issued the working sheet for trusts, as there was a problem with the offset of the £500 basic rate band and trust management expenses (TMEs).

Whilst the latest update has corrected those problems, i've had a problem with the tax pool calculation.

The trust in question has only rental income, and a small amount of TMEs. The calculation of the basic rate tax on the £500 band, and the amount of rents 'covered' by the grossed-up TMEs is correct, as is the trust rate charge.

The problem is that the basic rate tax on the TMEs-covered section of income is not entering the tax pool, although all of the other tax charges are added correctly.

The boxes on that section of the guide seem to ignore the basic rate charge on this part of the trust's income completely.

Has anyone else had this problem ?
How do I go about 'suggesting' to HMRC that their working sheet is wrong ?
