two creditors ledgers in same company

Client wants to get the same reporting detail in Sage for sundry creditors. Sage does not allow for two sets of creditors ledgers (Unlike some other software). Client does not want to confuse trade creditors with sundry creditors.

Any solutions out there?

Faint hope but if you do not ask..

Prefixes

If they set up supplier codes with a standard prefix for trade or sundry (e.g. all trade accounts start T, all sundry accounts start S) then they could use the normal Sage report filters to select only suppliers with that prefix. It would have to be at the start of the code so they'd form a block of data in the supplier list.

A creditor is a creditor whatever it was he supplied you with.

I would have thought that all liabilities incurred were in connection with the trade so what point is there in differentiation between Trade and Sundry Creditors?

Try getting him to give you an answer to that before spending time on trying to set up a system that provides what seems to be pretty meaningless information.

Trade creditors

Trade creditors are trade suppliers which need to be managed.

Sundry creditors are others not directly linked to trading. e.g. rates, rent neither would be classified as trade creditors. At least not in my Accounting 101.

Trade creditors are subject to terms, discount etc. Obviously rates as an example are not (we wish).

However the client wants to keep track of owing, payment history, the note section etc. etc. Very sensible I would think.

Don't want to create an account for each in ledger and then work with report writer. He has 8 rental agreements (retailer).

So looking for an answer from the guru's

Have you investigated using departments?

You can then keep all the existing supplier account codes (which you cannot change once created).
