unknown bank deposit

unknown bank deposit

Didn't find your answer?

A client recently had a relatively large unknown deposit put into their current bank account by a well known credit card company. They have no dealings with this credit card company, such as credit cards etc. They contacted the bank to inform them of this and the bank were disbelieving that our client didn't know how or why the money had been deposited. They then promised to phone back after looking into the matter but did not return the call. Is our client obliged to follow this up further and is there a set amount of time that the money can stay in the account for before it becomes legally theirs?

NO
there have been other questions on this site of a similar nature. It is similar to if you find money in the street - but with an increased likelihood that its owner will turn up to claim it.
