USB cable

USB cable

Didn't find your answer?

Nothing to do with business at all but my son bought a USB cable for his Samsung E350 mobile on Ebay via a friend,to enable him to download etc.It came with a disk which when you load it comes up with Instructions and the software that you need to load. However after then attaching the cable it should, according to the instructions come up with the 'New hardware wizard' but unfortunatley this and nothing else happens. We already have USB cables attached to the PC for the printer, web cam, digital camera and his ipod.
Furthermore, whether it is linked or not but after he tried to carry out this operation he no longer gets any sound through the speakers i.e.music via itunes etc. although there is a 'humming/buzzing' sound.
Just wondering if anyone can advise/help at all?
Thanks

USB problems
When loading new drivers, in particular USB drivers there can easily be a conflict, especially if the software is a bit 'flaky' in the way it is put together. Unfortunately there is little you can do about badly written software.

A few options you might like to try:

1. If there are lots of USB devices plugged into the PC on a hub, unplug them all and simply plug in the cable for the phone. Assuming you are running windows XP the new device should be found and the software that you previously installed should be set up. If it asks for the disk at this time just pop it in the drive.

2. Once the phone is working reinstall the sound software - it is possible that the phone software has grabbed the soundcard and you need to grab it back. Try using the win XP disk and go to sound in the control panel and update drivers.

You had best restart the PC once you have removed the USB hub / other USB devices - this will ensure that the PC doesn't open these devices upon startup - you can always add them later.

Finally you might also like to try plugging the USB phone into a different USB socket (most modern PCs have at least 2). USB as a protocol is particularly stupid (or clever depending on your view point) and when you plug it into a new socket it thinks it is a new device and so tries to reinstall the device again. This often solves problems too.

Of course if you are using a Mac or Linux box this will all be different for you. If you are using a Mac then I can't help you, and if you are using Linux then...well you will know all the above already.

Good luck.

Bluetooth dongle would work better
Bluetooth dongle would be another option that allows you to transfer files, managet contracts etc onto the phone (assuming E350 supports it).

Audio problem even without USB attached... if it still under warranty, take it to the shop and get them to reflash it to fix the software fault..

usb
you dont say what OS ? Which version of windows?

I have seen some usb devices conflict with some usb hubs so try the advice about unplugging everything etc.

Were you logged in as administrator for the install ?

does the phone need putting in a particular mode ?

has a firewall prevented software installing correctly ?
