Vat on business number at home

Vat on business number at home

Didn't find your answer?

Was wondering if anybody could tell me whether Vat can be reclaimed on a strictly business number used at home address?
This client does have 2 lines going into his own address and does receive a seperate bill for each number.

Its all in the name...
HMRC will want to satisfy themselves that the line is primarily for business use. As a minimum it will need to be in the name of the business. If a sole trader, it should be "trading as" business name, and that should do the trick.

Input VAT on Line at Home
Since the issue is reclaiming the VAT then the cost can simply be apportioned between business and private. Though since they have separate private and business numbers the private use, if any, of the business line may in fact be minimal or nil.
