I'm interested in VT as it gets good vibes from small practices
But is it any good?
are there any problems with formatting etc as its excel based?
How do you post into it? by journals for example?

Easy to use, easy to understand, easy to format and correct. Very good product at a very good price.

Had Sage phone me the other day ...
trying to push their own accounts production software. Asked me what used currently and when I told them it was VT the guy said ..." Yeh, we kind of struggle to compete with that!" I cannot imagine using anything else for my clients.
It changed my life!
What can I say to add to this post? Quite simply that once you convert to VT, you never look back. The price is really low, the templates are good and are flexible, you can import an trial balance or just type it in, you can prepare a set of accounts in 10 minutes if you have all the right information.
I may be wrong, but I have a feeling that since I started using VT Accounts, I've also become a lot more attractive to the ladies, or maybe it's just the extra confidence that using this product gives you that gives you the success that you need.
Being born, leaving home, getting married, having children, and the day I purchased VT will always stand out as some of the greatest days in my life, what can I say, I will never be the same again!
Vt is excellent
Can anyone recommed a similar , easy to use understand product that does corporation tax online?
FTAX by Legatio does online Corporation Tax submissions and is quite easy to use, it is a similar product to VT in fact.
The Best Choice
My friend used Forbes and said it is a mess and that the Help desk is a joke .
I used Digita and it is good but very expensive.
I have found the best (for the price) is VT with Taxcalc .
Not so good
I'll be honest I tried VT and thought it was very poor, yes its cheap but boy does it show!!
VT has got better
There have been many improvements to VT in the last few editions:
VT Transaction replaced by VT Transaction+VT Cash Book free for clientsBookkeeping can also be done directly in a 'manual entry' workbookAutomatic transfer of data between workbooksCumbersome Excel text boxes no longer usedUser guides and help topics expanded and completely rewritten
VT
I have to say if you are a small practice like mine why you would get anything other than VT and TaxCalc pro
VT is so straightforward and because it is built in Excel you can alter it to suit other circumstances - Like I do to give different divisions of the same company their own P&L
Taxcalc Pro gives all you want and is constantly updated to keep abreast of things we as users want and also HMRC changes - CT600 for example
Taxcalc support is so good it is ridiculous - I normally email my question - If they do not phone me with 15 minutes (yes 15 minutes - I think 2/3 minutes was the fastest) there is something seriously wrong!!
Do not even consider the bigger companies - all they will do is take your money - give no support and you will be left with all the things that big high street firm want but you will never use
best of luck
Close it down
If you are that paranoid perhaps you not be in business let alone making posts like that
perhaps we let the A-Web editors decide
Sage, VT, etc
I bought into SAGE mainly because of their claim that Sage Practice Solution will act as a hub. It was a miserable experience. They have put up their prices and so I am looking for alternatives for bookkeeping, Statutory accounts, Corp tax, personal tax, payroll and company secretarial.
Are there any products out there which are good and not so expensive?
