What are the differences between the Sage programmes Instant Accounts and 50 Accounts

What are the differences between the Sage...

Didn't find your answer?

We have client who is not sure which type of Sage accounts to buy. Does he buy Sage, Instant accounts, Instant Plus, 50 Accounts, 50 Accounts Plus or Professional?

He wants to know what the differences are between these different programmes.
As I understand it Instant Accounts handles Sales, Purchases and Nominal Ledgers, bank reconciliations, VAT (including cash accounting, but not flat rate), produces sales invoices, Profit and Loss accounts and balance sheets for any number of continuous months, in the year, up to 12. Instant Accounts Plus adds access rights and user passwords, basic stock functions, basic discounting on sales invoices, basic departments (P & L and balance sheet current month and YTD), a 2 user version, 50 accounts adds multi user versions, better stock, cash flow planner, multi company, better departments. None of these have foreign currency transactions. I think you need 50 Accounts Professional for this.
Which is the latest version number for them? I think that 50 Accounts, 50 Accounts Plus and 50 Accounts Professional are on version 17 2011 which has recently been released. I cannot find any reference to version 17 of Instant Accounts or Instant Accounts plus, is it still on version 16?
Am I correct, if not, what is the correct position?

Instant & Sage 50

Current version of Sage 50 is v2011 (v17) with Update 1 having been released on Friday.  Instant is currently on v16 with v17 due (as long as Sage stick to their 12 month release cycle) late Q1 early Q2 next year.

If Foreign Currency is a requirement then Sage 50 Accounts Professional is the only option, none of the other offer this.  As for the rest, you are pretty much spot on with the exception of user access and passwords which is also available in the standard Instant program.

Why Sage???

why does it have to be Sage .... there are far better alternatives to Sage - Chaeper and easier to use;

e.g. VT Transaction+, Xero, FreeAgent Central, Kashflow, Moneysoft, amongst others
