What is going on with the Aweb pages ??

and also

the css on the front page arranging the 4 picture takes a ridiculous length of time - with waiting ... appearing on lhs of IE8 bottom status bar

other pages - constant waiting messages in same place on status bar

these waiting messages never go and the browser is constantly is a state of loading
