Which Sage would be best for me?

Which Sage would be best for me?

Didn't find your answer?

I should be grateful for some advice as to which Sage product I should go for.

I have about 20 clients that I would need to use Sage for their book keeping.

I am also looking for a Sage product that would be ideal to handle Client account transactions (for estate agents and Solicitors clients)

Any advice would be appreciated

Go for the top of range
I would go for Sage 50 Accounts Professional. There's bound to be one or two clients who would need it.

Look at -

Are you really sure you want to go there?
If I had my time again I would avoid Sage completely. Get yourself locked in and you will find your cash outlay is large and for as long as you are in business. They continually think up new wheezes to get money out of you.

I agree with anonymous
(whoever he/she is.)

Avoid Sage if you can. They will lock you in and make it VERY difficult to change from them in the future.

Why do you want to go with Sage in the first place anyway?

Because ...
My guess is because sage format accounts are offered, that's what he will use. In my view poor choice, but it is his to make.

Sage 50 Client Manager
Normally the option we would recommend to people in your position would be the Sage 50 Client Manager. Please find further details on the link below:

http://shop.sage.co.uk/accountsclientmanager.aspx

It is a cost-effective way for accountants to get a multi-company version of Sage 50 Accounts with SageCover.

If you have any further questions, please call 0845 111 11 11.

Why Sage?
Why would you want to use SAGE?

Try VT Transaction +
- can be used for an unlimited number of clients
- much easier to use than Sage
- no pesky annual renewals required - unlike sage!
- Ability to set up client ledgers - unlike sage!
- Cost £125+VAT a fraction of what Sage would cost!

Hang fire
The client wants advice on Sage.

Above posting is correct - Client Manager is £550 and has the same functionality of Accountant Pro, and multicompany, for half the price, and also has the excellent Accountant Link function.

Sage can handle the client accounts too.

VT Transaction+ is good for basic business bookkeeping but insufficient for anything more.

Have you thought of an online solution?
If you are looking for a package that you could share access to the accounts with your clients, you may want to consider an online package such as Liquid Accounts.

Avoid Sage
Definately avoid Sage. Constant marketing, old techology programs, expensive, worst support in the industry, customer care department (must have closed down). Larger legal department.

Try VT Transaction+. A much improved product with the latest version. Superior to Sage in every respect for a fraction of the cost. Support excellent.

Sage
I agree that the Client Manager is the best option for general book-keeping work.

Sage will not be the right option for the sort of client accounts that solicitors and estate agents have - that would be a specialist type of software and could cost you an arm and a leg. I don't know what to recommend to you for that.

Quickbooks
I use Quickbooks and am reasonably happy with it although it does get confused with VAT reports.
The problem is they too are pushing the monthly subscription which you can't avoid if you use their payroll

Personally I would get the lawyers and estate agents to buy their own software and take a commission
The lawyers may prefer accounts integrated with their practice mgt software. I'm sure you are aware of the solicitors rules and requirements for their client monies so take this very seriously when you set up any accounts package for lawyers as they can be quite thick about it.

Cheers
